Swine

This is a new venture for us, we started doing market hogs in 2021.  We started with a Kune Kune male and bought a Kune AGH (American Guinea Hog) Cross female.  They produced a litter of 9 piglets for us last year, all sold within the first 3 months.  Our pigs are slow growers and making a reservation ahead of time is the best way to go.  AGH hogs are a Heritage Breed and on the Livestock Conservancy threatened list

They are not a large hog.  Our hogs mature in 9-12 months and weigh a little over 100 pounds when fully mature.  The meat is more marbled than that of modern market hogs, giving it a richer flavor.  It is what pork used to look like when our Grandparents/Great Grandparents went to the neighborhood butcher.  Commercial pork just does not come close to the robust flavor of fresh farm raised pig.

We raise them until you want them, which can be from 2 months (grill sized) up to 1 year (take it to the butcher sized).  They are perfect for the backyard pig roast when they are smaller, usually at about 20 weeks old.  We only breed once a year so be sure to make a reservation.

When you buy one of our pigs, you know you are getting a fresh pig, we let you know when we are going to the butcher and our butcher will contact you within a few days to discuss how you want it cut.  You then pick up your pig from the butcher.  He does charge for processing and cutting of the meat, so keep that in mind.  We have worked hard to find a local butcher who has a good price.  We can deliver to your favorite butcher if you prefer, but there is a fee for that.

This year our piglets were born on April 30.  They will be available starting in June. We will update the availability at that time.  Reservations for the pigs can be made in May.  A deposit of $100 (non refundable) can be made at that time to secure your pig.

Please note you are buying the whole pig!  We do not sell ½ or ¼.
